Content Reporting & Removal Policy

PUYaari is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and constructive online community for students of Punjabi University Patiala and regional university peers. Because our platform allows students to publish user-generated content (UGC)—including campus posts, anonymous confessions, accommodation listings, room inquiries, and Chugli group messages—we maintain clear guidelines, automated filters, and prompt human moderation workflows to protect our users and comply with applicable laws, including the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023.

1. Prohibited Content Categories

The following content is strictly prohibited on PUYaari and subject to immediate removal, account suspension, or permanent ban:

• Personal Identifiable Information (PII) & Doxxing: Sharing private phone numbers, physical residential addresses, vehicle license numbers, private email addresses, or identifying documents without explicit, verifiable consent.
• Harassment, Bullying & Defamation: Targeted personal insults, persistent stalking, non-consensual rumors, defamation of individual students or faculty members, and student ragging.
• Intimate, Explicit or Non-Consensual Imagery: Nudity, sexually explicit content, non-consensual recordings, and sexually suggestive material involving minors (which triggers immediate police escalation).
• Hate Speech & Discrimination: Content that attacks, demeans, or incites hatred based on religion, caste, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or regional background.
• Violence, Threats & Self-Harm: Explicit threats of bodily harm, incitement to violence, glorification of weapons, or encouragement of self-harm.
• Fraud, Scams & Commercial Spam: Fake room listings, advance rental fee fraud, unauthorized commercial advertising, referral link spam, and deceptive phishing attempts.
• Intellectual Property Infringement: Uploading copyrighted academic textbooks, examination papers, or proprietary media without appropriate authorization.

2. How to Report Violating Content

We provide multiple simple channels for students, property owners, and the public to report violations:

A. On-Platform Reporting Buttons (Instant Flagging)

Every post, confession card, room listing, and Chugli message includes an accessible Report button or dropdown action. When flagged, you can select the violation reason (e.g., Spam, Harassment, Inappropriate Content, PII Exposure) and provide optional details. Flagged items enter our moderator review queue immediately.

B. Email the Student Grievance Officer (Priority Takedowns)

For urgent matters—including exposure of personal phone numbers, defamation, or copyright infringement—contact our dedicated Student Grievance Officer directly:

• Required Details:
  1. Exact URL or screenshot of the offending content.
  2. Description of how the content violates policy or infringes on your privacy/rights.
  3. Your contact information for follow-up verification.

3. Moderation Actions & Sanctions

Upon reviewing a substantiated complaint, PUYaari moderators may apply progressive sanctions:

• Content Redaction: Immediate deletion of specific phone numbers, images, or defamatory text while preserving the broader post if benign.
• Content Removal: Permanent deletion of the post, confession, room listing, or comment from the live platform and database.
• Formal Account Warning: Issuance of a formal notification in the user’s dashboard regarding the policy infraction.
• Temporary Suspension: Suspension of posting, room listing, and messaging privileges for 7 to 30 days.
• Permanent Account Termination: Permanent ban of the account and associated phone/email identifier for egregious violations (e.g., doxxing, sexual harassment, financial scams).

4. Counter-Notice & Appeals Process

If you believe your content was removed or your account was sanctioned in error, you may file an appeal by emailing grievance@puyaari.com with the subject line "Moderation Appeal - [Account Email]" within 14 days of the action. Our senior editorial team will review the original material, the reporter's claim, and your explanation to render a final, documented decision.

5. Non-Affiliation Disclaimer & Operator Identity

PUYaari operates as an independent student-driven social network and campus directory. PUYaari is not officially endorsed by, affiliated with, or operated by Punjabi University Patiala administration. For official university administrative grievances or academic appeals, students must contact the appropriate Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) or University Registrar desks directly.
